MASTERS AND INSTRUCTORS
Here at USA Taekwondo Center, all of our Masters and Instructors are Kukkiwon certified black-belts, with years of Taekwondo experience as both athletes and coaches. We combine traditional values with modern teaching techniques in order to construct the best Taekwondo experience, and work hard to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for all students.
Jacky Baik
6th Degree Black Belt – General Manager
Master Jacky is the current Coaching Co-Director for the National Collegiate Taekwondo Association, with over 20 years of coaching and sparring experience. He has staffed and coached a wide variety of national and international tournaments throughout his career, including the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei, Taiwan; and the 2018 World University Taekwondo Festival in Muju, South Korea. Master Jacky was the head coach of the UC San Diego Taekwondo Team from 2007-2018, and is the current head coach of UTC Team One Competition Team – training the team primarily in Gyorugi (Sparring).
Hwa Young Son
6th Degree Black Belt – Master Instructor | General Manager
Master Son is a former Korean National Demonstration Team member, with over 10 years of teaching experience between the United States and South Korea. She received her B.A. in Taekwondo from Yong In University. Master Son is the co-coach of UTC Team One Competition Team, and trains the team in both Poomsae and Gyorugi (Sparring).
Sophia Saythong
4th Degree Black Belt – Instructor
Instructor Sophia has been instructing at our studio for over 2 years, and has been with the studio for more than 6 years. She is the 2021 NCTA Kicking Competition junior gold medalist, and the current co-captain of our UTC Team One Condor Competition Team, competing in both Poomsae and Gyorugi (Sparring).
